All about the new NHA General Manager
President Benigno S. Aquino appointed Atty. Chito M. Cruz as the new General Manager of the National Housing Authority and swore him in Malacañang last August 23, 2010.
Being the 10th General Manager of the NHA in its 35 years of existence he emphasized the mandate he received from President Aquino – that is to faithfully fulfill NHA's mandate of providing decent, adequate and affordable housing to the most number of marginalized Filipinos. He was also asked by the President to make sure to maximize the use of limited government resources and ensure no wastage of these resources.
Atty. Chito M. Cruz, on his first day of office as the new General Manager thanked and congratulated the NHA family for their great accomplishments and assured them that all these gains will be preserved and will continue to strive for NHA's excellence.
GM Cruz promised that he will do his very best to accomplish NHA's goals through the support of NHA officials and employees. He said that he cannot realize the dreams and aspirations of our fellow brothers if he doesn't have the support of NHA family.
"In NHA, we are not building homes, we are building communities which bring hope and provide better lives to our less fortunate brothers and sisters."
"Thirty-five years ago, our agency was created with the sole objective of providing decent, adequate and affordable housing to the greatest number of people as well as ensure the provision of social services and economic opportunities. This is a mission we passionately strive to provide our beneficiaries," Atty. Chito M. Cruz notes.
"With the relocation and resettlement of our informal settlers to various projects we plan to provide our fellowmen with a sustainable and legitimate way of life, which is their basic human right as a citizen of this courtesy," GM Cruz ends.
GM Cruz grew up in Dinalupihan, Bataan. He earned a degree in AB Economics at the Ateneo de Manila and took up Law in the same university. He passed the bar in 1986 and started as an Associate in Belo, Abrera Associates Law Firm. Together with his friends in 1993, they established the Cruz, Cruz and Navarro Law Office in Ortigas. From 1998 to 2004, he was the senior deputy administrator of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).
