GM Federico Laxa’s 55th birthday turned out to be unique and distinct this year, not only for him but also for the recipients of his newly launched “fish project”- a livelihood project that derived its name from the line ‘Give a man to fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will live forever.’
The occasion started with the Holy Mass celebrated by Fr. Romy Castro. Close friends delivered short messages and greeted him on his special day. Employees and staff greeted the celebrant after the Mass.
GM Laxa opted for a simple celebration, foregoing the traditional banquet he tenders for his NHA family and guests during his birthdays. Instead, he launched the fish project as his gift to the beneficiaries.
He awarded P300.00 worth of livelihood starter kits cum training to an initial of 500 beneficiaries from Pampanga, Bulacan, Laguna, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela and Caloocan. The project offered three types of starter kits – production of bead crafts on Christmas decors/accessories, liquid dishwashing soap making and chocolate molding..
Fish project is in partnership with Dream Inc. It aims to improve the lives of families in resettlement sites by providing additional entrepreneurship knowledge to families.
Sustainability of the project was discussed by NHA and Dream Inc. The latter assured that the P300.00 capital will surely grow.
