IP's Get Housing Support
EFFECTIVE August 31, 2011, the NHA and the Local Government Units (LGUs) are now partners in extending housing assistance to our Indigenous Peoples (IPs).
Under the Resettlement Assistance Program for LGUs, the NHA will assist LGUs implementing housing projects in their locality that includes land development, housing construction, award of housing units, cost recovery and project maintenance. The Authority will also allocate funding assistance for the Resettlement Program in all municipalities, 5th and 6th class cities and 5th and 6th class provinces. With other LGUs, 50% of NHA's assistance will be in the form of a grant and the balance as a non- interest bearing loan by the LGU, payable in six years inclusive of a one-year moratorium period.
Meanwhile, the IP community will provide the land required for the housing project in coordination with the LGU and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP). Said program will adopt a multi-stakeholder approach where the beneficiaries or the target communities with the NCIP will participate in its implementation and monitoring.
Prioritization and selection of beneficiaries will be undertaken by the LGU and the concerned community with NCIP coordination.
