Housing Czar awards lot titles to Pandacan folks

Vice-President and Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) Chairman Jejomar C. Binay awarded Transfer Certificate of Titles (TCT) to some one hundred thirty three (133) fully paid housing beneficiaries of the Homeowner's Association of Barangay 842-843 in Pandacan, Manila under the Community Land Acquisition Support Program (CLASP) of the National Housing Authority.

NHA General Manager Atty. Chito M. Cruz, other national and local officials like Manila Mayor Alfredo S. Lim, Congresswoman Rosenda Ann Ocampo of 6th District of Manila and teachers, parish representatives graced the awarding ceremony on February 15, 2011 held at Bagong Barangay West, Zamora St., Pandacan, Manila.

The Pandacan project site which has an area of 6,437.40 m2 was acquired by the NHA from its owner, the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Manila by virtue of Deed of Exchange with sale on August 11, 1990. In 1989, the tenants of the property organized themselves into a community association and on September 1990 called themselves Homeowner's Association of Barangay 842 – 843 Pandacan, Inc., with the objective of acquiring the same through the Community Based Tenurial Assistance Program (CBTAP) of the NHA.

Congresswoman Sandy Ocampo endorsed the association to NHA's CBTAP under the CLASP. The awarding ceremony, dubbed with the theme "Titulong Pangarap, Natupad Na" is a clear manifestation of the PNoy administration's commitment to provide housing assistance and security of tenure to deserving families needing safe, livable and affordable homes.
