GAD goes mainstreaming projects
INCORPORATING gender factor in NHA's work plans and projects call for conscious and serious assessment and planning sessions not only with its employees at the main office but also with select operating managers in the different regions to refine Gender and Development (GAD) directions for this year and even 2012.
To achieve this goal, a two-day Planning and Assessment Workshop of the GAD Technical Working Group (TWG) with different departments and staff officers and selected regional managers from the National Capital Region (NCR), Northern and Central Luzon (NCL), Southern Luzon and Bicol Regions (SLB), Visayas Management Office (VMO) and Mindanao Management Office or MMO attended and participated in this event last April 26 – 27, 2011 in Tagaytay City.
The conference aimed at refining the GAD efforts to pursue gender mainstreaming not only among NHA employees but also the clientele. It also laid the ground on identifying the projects that will significantly impact on the promotion of gender-sensitive programs and projects.
The workshop also advocated and encouraged active support of the operating units like National Capital Region (NCR), North and Central Luzon (NCL), Southern Luzon and Bicol (SLB), Mindanao Management Office (MMO) and Visayas Management Office (VMO) in implementing gender projects nationwide. The sessions went on fruitfully and different plans and activities were identified, including their budget requirements for the year 2011 and 2012.
Ms. Lorna Serape, GAD Focal Point Person and Officer-in-charge, Visayas Management Office stressed: "We need to undertake more conscious incorporation of the gender factor in our work plans to fully achieve our desired results and meet various expectations of our co-workers and target clientele".Some thirty (30) participants successfully and actively attended the sessions.
