Muntinlupa folks get portable water purifier
The National Bilibid Prison Housing Project in Muntinlupa City, administered by the National Housing Authority was chosen by the Department of Science and Technology – Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) as the pilot testing site of the Portable Water Purifier System developed.
With the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed between the NHA through General Manager Atty. Chito M. Cruz and the DOST through Honorable Secretary Mario G. Montejo held at the NBP Multi Purpose Center last March 31, 2011 one hundred (100) families will benefit from the project implementation.
This event was witnessed by ITDI-DOST Director Dr. Nuna Almanzor, NHA National Capital Region (NCR) Manager Engr. Victor Balba, Housing and Technology Development Office (HTDO) Officer – in – Charge Arch. Beth Regala and NBP 3 Project Manager Daisy Lizardo.
Prior to MOA signing, water testing and trial runs have been done. Recipients of the portable water purifier have already undergone training on cleaning operations and maintenance of the unit. DOST on the other hand will conduct regular monitoring of the portable water purification system in the select sites of the project.
The portable water purification system will be very essential in producing potable drinking water and will help in reducing the expense for drinking water of NBP3's housing beneficiaries.
