P244 M: HUDCC Fund for Iloilo Resettlement

Vice-President Jejomar C. Binay and concurrent Chirperson, of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) announced recently the allotment of P244 M as additional fund for the development of resettlement project in Iloilo.

Binay, who was then in Iloilo for the Region VI Pabahay Caravan cited that the project will benefit an estimated 1,000 informal settlers families affected by the rehabilitation of the Iloilo river.

In Iloilo, Binay also witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Undertaking between Pag-ibig Fund and the Sta. Barbara Local Government for the proposed Kahiwayan Village Housing Project.

He also led the ceremonial awarding of checks amounting to P22M to five landowners whose properties were sold to five community associations under the Community Mortgage program (CMP), where 700 informal settler families will benefit.

In a related event, the housing czar also announced the Phase 2 implementation of the AFP/PNP housing program of President Aquino in the Visayas and Mindanao regions next year.

He stressed that the National Housing Authority (NHA), the AFP and PNP Housing Boards are evaluating the viability of the proposed areas for the housing program.

Phase I of the Program is now being implemented in Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal where 21,800 housing units are targeted for construction.
