Rail settlers set 3rd people's congress
Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) Secretary General Celia Alba and NHA General Manager Atty. Chito M. Cruz led government agencies and local government units in the 3rd People's Congress for rail resettled families. Represented by the dynamic Homeowners' Federation of Northville and Southville Inc., an organization of Homeowner's Association, they handed down their achievements in their 5-year Community Development and Housing Management Plans.
The event was held at the National Housing Authority (NHA) Multi-Purpose Center on April 6, 2011, where some 500 community beneficiaries, LGU officials and multi-stakeholders attended the Congress.
NHA General Manager Atty. Chito M. Cruz, together with HUDCC Secretary General Alba and Asst. General Manager Mr. Froilan R. Kampitan also honored partners by awarding 73 certificates of recognition and appreciation to LGUs and non-government organizations for contributing greatly to the Federation's goals and objectives, particularly in identifying the progress /gains, setbacks and challenges which need to be addressed by concerned agencies.
Recognizing the accomplishments of the Northville and Southville HOAs in their 5-Year Community Development and Housing Management Plan, GM Cruz on the part of NHA committed to address the major issues and concerns raised by the HOA leaders such as Social Services (Health and Education), Economic Services (Increased Livelihood Opportunities), Community Organization (Fast tracking of HLURB Registration; Furnish beneficiaries with individual copies of Individual Notice of Award (INA)), Physical Condition (De-clogging of drainage system), Turn-over of facilities (No policy of engaging the HOA to maintain the facilities) and promotion of disaster preparedness in disaster prone areas.
"Magtulong-tulong tayo upang mabigyang-buhay natin ang itinakda ninyong tema ng kapulungang ito: "Patuloy na Pagtutulungan sa Pagpapaunlad ng Pamayanan", GM Cruz said in his message to the housing beneficiaries.
The event was highlighted by the ceremonial awarding of titles to 11 fully paid beneficiaries of Northville and Southville projects. The induction and oath taking of the newly – elected Officers of the Federation was also held. Earlier, a Pre-Congress was held at the NHA Operations Center, which focused on the Federation's progress of implementation of their 5-year Housing and Community Development Plans which the community groups crafted last 2009 Peoples' Congress at the Quezon City Sports Club.
