Housing Czar distributes 227 TCTs in Mabalacat

Vice president and Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council Chairperson Jejomar C. Binay will lead the distribution [today, December 2, 2011] of 227 Transfer Certificates of Titles (TCTs) to qualified families affected by Mount Pinatubo eruptions. These settler-families came from devastated barangays of Mabalacat namely: Dolores, Cacutud, Sta. Ines, Tabun, San Joaquin, Mamatitang and Sta. Rita.

The resettlement project, located at Barangay Sapang Biabas, Mauague, Mabalacat, Pampanga is 3.9 kilometres from Mabalacat Town Proper. It occupies an area of 50.20 hectares, with relatively flat terrain. The project was purchased in 1994 and implemented in 1995 by the Mount Pinatubo Commission. Total project cost was Php 369,633,065.00 only, where 3,050 lots/units were generated. 2,482 families were found to be qualified for lot award based on approved Guidelines on Disposition by the Mount Pinatubo Commission.

From the 2,482 families subject for lot titling, a total of 1,317 TCTs was released to 1,317 qualified families based on occupancy check using the Mount Pinatubo masterlist from the defunct Mount Pinatubo Commission (MPC), now under the administration of the National Housing Authority, under the leadership of Atty. Chito M. Cruz, General Manager.

The project has basic amenities such as water system (Mabalacat Water District) and power supply by Pampanga Electric Company II. There are also health and community facilities being enjoyed by its residents like 55 elementary classrooms, Day Care center, 10 bed clinics, 7 stalls wet and dry market, 2 basketball courts and a police station to maintain peace and order. Also, an Iglesia ni Cristo and Mauague First Great Commission Baptist Church are found in the project.

To augment their economic conditions in the site, livelihood facilities and programs like Kabuhayan Centers, small scale rehabilitation program, capability building programs; special credit assistance for Overseas Contract Workers (OCWs) among others, are being provided by National Government Agencies and NGOs.
